- Intent-Based Development Transforms Insights into Action
- AI-Powered Agents Boost Developer Productivity
- From Process Bottleneck to Competitive Advantage
SAP TechEd 2025 showcased how SAP Build, powered by generative AI and intent-based development, is transforming the creation of enterprise applications, enabling businesses to swiftly convert complex process insights into tangible competitive advantages.
The demonstration began by highlighting a common business pain point: lengthy credit risk analysis slowing down the order-to-cash process. Leveraging SAP Signavio for process intelligence, the team identified that credit holds on existing sales contracts were a significant bottleneck. The solution? An SAP S/4HANA extension built with SAP Build's generative AI agent, Juul, designed to perform automatic credit analysis. This innovative approach moves beyond traditional low-code, embracing 'intent-based development' where users simply articulate their needs, and the AI constructs the solution.
The session vividly illustrated Juul's capabilities, from generating detailed, end-to-end application specifications aligned with SAP best practices and clean core principles, to building full-stack applications. Developers witnessed live UI updates, where a simple spoken intent to add an indicator for high-value contracts instantly modified the application's interface. The underlying code, including UI5 annotations, was seamlessly generated, significantly enhancing developer productivity. Furthermore, the integration with tools like VS Code, featuring SAP Build MCP agents, demonstrated a true AI partnership, where the system autonomously modifies services, adjusts annotations, verifies syntax, and even tests the code, ensuring robust and compliant extensions.
Ultimately, the real-world impact was undeniable. The newly deployed application, running on SAP BTP, showcased a real-time creditworthiness analysis. By simply updating a contract value, the AI agent was triggered, performing a new analysis and updating the contract status, eliminating previous delays. Months later, SAP Signavio Process Intelligence confirmed the success, with every process node turning green and significant improvements in key metrics. This journey from identifying an insight in Signavio, to defining an intent, to deploying an AI-generated solution in Build, exemplifies how generative AI is empowering businesses to turn critical process bottlenecks into powerful competitive advantages.
“and that's how I a credit controller at bestrun turned this process bottleneck into a competitive advantage using generative AI and intentbased development.”
